Q: How do I get into the bios of a Toshiba Tecra 520cdt?
I have a Toshiba Tecra 520cdt and a few hours ago, it stopped booting up. I restarted WIndows 98 and it froze after the memory count. I took the hard drive out and Fdisked it. The drive is fine. I put it back in the laptop and the same extremely frustrating thing happened.
How do I get into the bios? I desperately need to do that.
If this antique laptop is dead, is there any brand on the market that sells a laptop that is NOT made in china? Nothing that comes from china is worth the effort it takes to remove it from the packaging before discarding it! I am not joking! This is my experience.

Q: How do you use the touchpad on a Toshiba Tecra 8200?
We have a square touchpad on other laptop its easy but on the Toshiba it has a couple of arched deals instead of a square I dont know how to use it ?
A: it is not a touch pad. you call that a track point. you just place your finger in the nipple like rubber on the keyboard and you click with the long arc and right click with the smaller arc.
Q: How do I disassemble my Toshiba Tecra M-7 it is getting really hot and I need to clean the heatsink ?
I do alot of strenuous computing I noticed my computer gets much hotter then it used to so im sure the heat sink needs to be cleaned. Taking it apart is kind of scary to me so I would like a guide or something about taking it apart and clean the dust out of the heat sink and fan. The whole bottom has to be taken off to get to it there is no latch or anything
A: With laptops you generally don't take them apart to clean. If your computer is getting hot , it is alright, mine gets hot too, mine gets hot enough to make the bottom part of the table hot.
But if you want to take your laptop apart for experimental purposes, I would suggest search the web for a service manual of your laptop, it will have detailed instructions on how to replace every part in your laptop. You will probably have to start taking apart or prying apart bits and pieces from the top portion (keyboard and around the keyboard). That should reveal from screws, then based on what combination of screws you loosen, you will be able to take apart a different layer of the laptop.
Check you service manual, all laptops are built differently, yours might be a lot easier (or harder) to take apart.
Q: I reinstalled Windows XP Pro on my Toshiba Tecra 9100, where do I get the drivers?
I got the laptop off of a friend, and I reinstalled Windows to clear the computer off. I need the driver to my video card, but the system won't recongize the card and therefore is unable to tell me what the card is and where I can go to download the drivers for it. I know it is the original card that came with the laptop because she never changed the card. It is a Toshiba Tecra 9100 with Windows XP Pro. What do I do?
A: If you network card is working... just go to www.toshiba.com. You can get any driver you need there.

Q: What is the fastest processor I can put in my Toshiba Tecra M2?
It currently has a Pentium M 1.5 GHz 400mhz front side bus, 1mb cache. Can I use a 1.7 with the same bus speed and 1mb? What about the dothlan core, with 533mhz bus and 2mb cache? Will a bios update allow me to run a 2.0 dothlon?
A: Not sure if you can replace the CPU but even if you could the best you can do is Intel Pentium M Processor 745 (1.80GHz Processor Speed, 2MB L2 Cache, 400MHz FSB). Not sure if the cost vs speed warrants switch. You might be able to get a bit more out of it with a BIOS update. You will need to check with Toshiba to see what the latest BIOS update is and what it will do for you.

Q: I have Toshiba Tecra A8-143, the problem is that after reinstalling windows xp the sound is not working?
Before i re-installed the sound was working perfectly! But after re-installing the windows that sound doesn't come. I also installed the driver from the official toshiba website but still all in vain.
A: Make sure that nothing is muted in the Audio Control Panel.
When I used to reinstall systems, I have the same problems with automatically muted sound.

A: Previous answer is simply an add to sell Guildwars Gold.
My suggestion would be to check the GW site (http://www,guildwars.com) and make sure that your video card is up to specs.
It it meets the min requirements, then a good place to check would atcually be the forums on GuildWars Guru (http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/). There are alot of technically minded people there, and many that would be able to help you out.
Q: How do I make cord speakers work through my Toshiba Tecra A7 laptop?
Whenever I try plugging them into where the headphones go they don't work at all. And I don't know what to do! Please tell me all the possible ways you know so I can get my speakers working! The first person who comes up with the right way for my speakers to work gets 10 points! And yes they do work!
A: If the headphones work then the speakers should work, try headphones in there first, if they don't work then it's the laptop configuration not the speakers. Try reinstalling the audio drivers
Q: What are the possible causes for a power related malfunction on a Toshiba Tecra A4 laptop?
The laptop will seldomly switch on and only runs for a few minutes after the password has been entered which in effect means it runs for +/- 5 to 10 minutes.
A: 1. Power supply is failing (or the battery).
2. It's overheating, meaning a fan has bitten the big one, or the cooling vents are blocked. Make sure it is sitting on a hardtop surface. If the air vents are blocked by dust, get some compressed air (any computer store) and blast them.
