Q: Toshiba Laptop A200 HO Notebook Satellite DVD burner, good online shopping cheap and genuine?
http://x5.com.au/product-50-NEW-Toshiba-Laptop-Notebook-M200-q00-Satellite-Wireless-Auction
A: I do a lot of business through my work with this company, CompTechPro. They are great on email and one of the best online companies I know of. You can use them for trading in your current used laptop in for credit, cash, or credit towards purchasing a new laptop for them. They also have great deals on buying a new laptop. They will help you pick out and select the best laptop for your needs. All orders are custom, designed to every one who orders from them. They do custom laptop orders designed and ordered around your needs and daily routines. They carry all the major recommended brands, Sony, HP, Acer, Toshiba, etc. Do not buy a laptop without at least looking into CompTechPro, you will thank me later that you did.

Q: E-Machine Verses Toshiba Laptop/Notebook?
I am looking into a new computer and I have limited money to spend. Have you heard which is better of these two computers. Walmart sells both and I'm not sure which is the better one to buy. I will be using it for college.
A: I agree that you should stay away from E-Machines. They have a bad reputation -- check out the forums and Usenet (do a meta search).
Toshiba are well known for their laptops. They take a lot of abuse well, have a good, clicky keyboard with the CTRL key in the proper place (bottom left -- a lot of stupid laptops have the Fn key there) -- BTW Toshiba invented the Fn key...
On what you have asked, I would say go with the Toshiba.
However, you would probably get more for your money with Dell (Dell also have the CTRL key in the right place) -- but you would have to buy on-line of over the telephone (and it is not easy nor user-friendly). I can completely understand why you want to buy from a store -- and Wally has a great returns policy -- which is really important with this sort of stuff.
What are you doing at College? If CAD or graphics/web design/ games etc - you will need more than the popular RAM for laptops of 256MB, you'll need a minimum of 512MB, but more is better.
Burning a CD/DVD might be a good way to backup/store or transfer data -- and you can make compilations audio CDs, or get major amounts of songs onto a CD or DVD blank by ripping them first into MP3s (a lot of players now can handle MP3 files on discs). Memory sticks are cheap -- or you can use iPOD or Zen Nanos (etc) -- they are like a small light Walkman that cannot skip or jump, that hold music as MP3, as well as pictures and doc files etc -- so you will need lots of USB ports (or get a hub).
You won't get a floppy anymore, and you won't get a printer socket (the 25 pin thingy) or even a mouse socket in PS/2. It's all USB these days.
You might need at least an SD reader for camera cards or a multicard reader in the USB again. (Big load on USBs)
Dell have better battery life than Toshiba, it runs quieter and does not get as hot as the Tosh laptops.
If you are thinking of transferring video camera movies onto DVDs, then you might need 80GB for safety over time. If you are planning to rip all you music and sell off all your CDs at a car boot sale, then you will want 80GB minimum.
Try for a clock speed as high as possible -- as well as fast HDD revs. Two HDDs with a RAID array or front side bus etc -- all the latest techy terms! Do not worry about them...
Think more about what you need it to do, and what you might want it to do -- surf, wireless surfing on battery, printing, using a mouse, sound card, graphics card, lightweight or desktop replacement and sturdy...
Wishing you all the best!

A: I would try & reinstall the operating system.
Follow these steps.
# 1. Insert your windows Install CD/DVD and reboot your computer. If your computer says press any key to continue. Please do so. This should allow you to install a fresh operating system. If it doesn't. Goto Step 2.
# 2. Depending on your computer. Press any one of the following keys. Esc, F2, F8, F10, Del. One of those 4 buttons should allow you into the bios system. Go through your Bios, There will be an option that says something to the order of Boot Order. Change it so that your CD ROM boots 1st or 2nd. And your hard drive 2nd or 3rd respectively.
Hopefully all that helps.

i have toshiba satllite A-65 laptop (notebook) and when i try to install win xp it start but for 3 or 4 minute it appers error massage it said "file setupdd. sys could not be loaded the error code is 4" i try to for win me but the error massage is the same. I wait your best advice
thanks
A: Check the CD for scratches. A lot of times the CD is the culprit. Will have scratches or may be dirty.
Also, there is a possibility that your CD-ROM drive is bad. If neither OS CD will work the drive may be bad.
Take the CD and check it on another PC. See if it will read the CD
You may also want to try the following:
Try deleting the existing partition and reformatting the hard drive.
Then try to install XP.

Q: Can a computer techie please tell me what is wrong with the screen on my Toshiba A210 MS5 notebook laptop?
I bought a new notebook only a few days ago and it came loaded with Windows Vista. I use the computer for a couple hours and all the sudden the screen turns off and goes black. My computer is still on, but I can't press any buttons to make the screen active again. The computer is not idle, I'll be using it and poof, the screen is gone.
I've called Toshbia tech support, and albeit they were really nice, no one could give me a decent answer.
I've been told to take out the battery and adapter, let it rest for 15 minutes and observe. (didn't work)
I've been told to update my bios from 1.00 to 1.30. (didn't work)
the third time I called I was told that it might be a Vista problem and they're waiting for a patch, I asked if I can downgrade to XP and they told me I'll have to buy it. (complete BS if you ask me).
Assuming the third guy didn't know what he was talking about either, is there something else I can try? Has anyone else experienced this?
by the way, the only way to give the screen any life is to hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn it off and turn it on again.
the screen isn't exactly 'off' but it looks like how your TV would if you switched it to Video and nothing is hooked up. it looks black, but you can tell the TV is still on. the computer itself is whirring as usually and the blue led lights (power, adapter, battery, etc) are still on.
A: It is not just Vista. Its a Microsoft issue.
But first check your laptop. When it goes blank. Is there any portion under the laptop that is very very hot or do you get any burning smell. That would eb Toshiba issue.
Else blame Microsoft & Toshiba for selling you BS. You paid for it, if it doesn't work return the Non working piece.
There are other players in the laptop market without this problem.
Q: Is the Toshiba Tecra 8200 PC Notebook a good laptop?
Should I buy it, or pass. Also, is there a wirreless internet card for it?
A: toshiba usually make great laptops, i have used dell, compaq, fujitsu, hp and toshiba laptops they just differ in their processing powers. now i just look at the specs not much on the brand but just as long as they are branded, depending on how you'll use it that's where the specs go in. most laptops nowadays have buitl-in wireless cards if it has none i believe you can buy a plug in
Q: Which laptop is better for gaming? Acer Aspire 15.4" Widescreen Notebook PC or Toshiba Satellite 15.4” Laptop
Acer Aspire 15.4" Widescreen Notebook PC (5630-6288)
ACA AS56306288
• Intel Core 2 Duo T5500
• 160GB hard drive
• Burns DVDs and CDs
• 2GB of DDR2 memory
• Built-in 802.1abg wireless
• Windows Vista Home Premium
OR
Toshiba Satellite 15.4” Laptop (A215-S7422)
TOS A215S7422
• AMD Turion™ 64 X2 TL-58
• Built-in wireless 802.11b/g
• Burns DVDs and CDs
• 160GB hard drive
• 1GB of DDR2 memory
• Windows Vista Home Premium
Both have the same price, but just want to know which one is better for gaming (cause i am a hardcore gamer)
A: For gaming, one of the most important things to look for would be the video card - with the power of today's games you should be looking for an absolute minimum 256MB card, preferably higher.
However, from the information you have given, the Acer would be better as it has 2GB of DDR2 RAM memory.
I hope this has helped.

Q: Toshiba laptop hard drive compatibility?
I am looking forward to upgrade my toshiba a70-s256 notebook's hard drive, i've looked but most of them online which are SATA, and what i have currently is a ATA/100 hard drive in the laptop. I wanna know whether i can just slide in SATA hard drive in the laptop? Or is it not going to work?
A: SATA drive is not compatible. Stick with 100 GB ATA/100 drive for $160.
