Q: i have a toshiba satellite a205 and i encountered a blank screen on start up t?
I tried to pressed FN key with another key which I can't remember now and it worked! Now I am encountering the same problem can anyone help me with the "other" key. Please help.

A: Try one of the Fx keys on the top. Usually it's F5 or F7 (it has a small picture of Screen on it). You may need to press it two times. This key combination switches between internal LCD, external monitor or both.

Q: How to open a the sd card slot in a Toshiba Satelite A205?
When i try to forcefully open the sd card slot it wont budge please help

A: Hey Fursa Get large chisel and sledge hammer and clamp it in a vice.

Q: I just bought a Toshiba Satellite A205-S5800 and i dont know how to connect to my wireless internet at my home
It has built in wifi.

A: First, make sure the wireless adapter is on and configured to receive a wireless signal. Go to Start>Control Panel>Network and Internet Connections>Network Connections. If the wireless network icon has a red X over it, rightclick it and choose "enable" from the shortcut menu. Once enabled, double click the connection, and click on "View Networks." If your wireless network doesn't use a security key to connect, you should be able to automatically connect to the network shown in this view (you will probably already be connected). However, if you need to enter a WEP or WPA key to gain access, you'll need to get this information from whomever set up the network for you.

Q: How can I fix a Toshiba Satellite A205-4777 PXE-E61 Media Test Failure Error?
Every other time I boot up my Toshiba, the operating system (Vista) begins to load. Halfway through the loading process, the bar freezes and the blue screen of death flashes on the screen for less than half a second, then the system restarts and an error message saying "Computer Unable To Start" appears. The computer then tries to fix itself and does a system restore, ultimately allowing me to sign in but wasting around 15-20 minutes fixing itself. Recently, my computer was unable to fix itself, but re-installing from the Toshiba disks fixed this problem, but the computer still is unable to start every other boot. I ran a RAM utility checker and it said "PXE-E61 Media Test Failure Error," followed by a system restart and subsequent "computer unable to start" error. Because I was able to rewrite my HDD completely, I do not believe there is an error in my hard drive. I also tried to fix the BIOS as other people have said, but to no avail; does anyone know if this is a software error or hardware error and how to fix this?

A: i would say to do a checkdisk and check for bad sectors if you do not find any try changing the ram or leave only one module in (hopefully you have 2) and try it like that if not you might have something damaged internaly i do not think it is a software problem. C

Q: Is there a driver for linux that enables monitor mode (aircrack-ng) for the wifi card in a Toshiba A205-S4607?
Ok.... i have an A205-S4607 and it's running Ubuntu 8.04. I have installed aircrack-ng using apt-get install aircrack-ng which worked fine (i think). now when i run airmon-ng it finds the driver but it says MONITOR MODE NOT SUPPORTED. How do i fix this so i can use monitor mode?

A: that laptop has Intel 4965 AGN wireless and intel has always been problematic with wifi hacking so I would say not at the moment but there is this wiki that may help http://www.aircrack-ng.org/doku.php?id=iwl4965&s=4965 People have had limited success up to this point. For now, search the Forum for “4965” to get the most up-to-date information.

Q: new Toshiba A205 Laptop fan goes on and off every few seconds?
I've just bought a new Toshiba A205 laptop. The fan goes on and off every few seconds. I wonder if this is normal or something's wrong with it. Does anyone else has the same problem?

A: This is perfectly normal for a Toshiba laptop. The fan turn on or off depends on how fast the cpu and other device is running. It's a feature of the Toshiba power options -- Just ignore it.

Q: Is the Toshiba A205-S5000 on sale at Walmart a good buy?
I currently have an Inspiron B130 from Dell, I was wondering which one is faster. I currently have to have $200.00 worth of repairs. So I am deciding which would be the better deal. Fix mine, or get the one at wal mart. I am online a lot for medical transcriptionist, so I need something fairly fast, but affordable. Please let me know what you think would be the best options. Thanks, for the help.

A: Keep your Dell...It is much better than theToshiba.

Q: Is the toshiba a205-s4607 a sufficient laptop for engineering majors?

A: OH, YES, DEFINITELY! Just look at the specs! This is probably more than a match for the Dell XPS!

Q: Toshiba Satellite A205-S5804 Notebook. Can the memory be increased from 2 Gigs to 5 Gigs?
Toshiba Satellite A205-S5804 Notebook...Desire to increase the memory from 2 Gigs to 5 Gigs? Thanks.

A: You can put as much as 4 gigs of ram in that laptop, but it will only be recognized as 3.5gigs. You can, despite what the other users have said, put 3 gigs into it, 1-2gig stick and 1-1gig stick, only it will not be using the dual channel mode of memory... Also most likely your laptop uses 667mhz ram you can upgrade it to 800mhz ram like I did in my wife's laptop...

Q: Can i somehow increase my graphics on a toshiba satellite a205?

A: Unfortunately the only thing you can do is go into the bios on boot and allocate more ram to the video card. Laptops have just about everything, including a video card integrated, only a handful are upgradable video boards and the expense isn't really justified.

I'm entering college this fall and I need some help deciding between these two notebooks, Toshiba A205-S4577 and HP Pavilion dv2317us. I would like something light, quick, and reliable. Both notebooks have pretty much the same stuff, including Core 2 Duo. However, the Toshiba is kind of heavy but Consumer Report wrote that Toshiba notebooks are better. Can someone give some personal experience or advice? Thanks!

A: My personal experience with toshiba has been great. I especiallt like there true bright displays. I have never owned an Hp notebook, but have has desktop. I would not ever buy an HP product again.

Do i have any option to upgrade for the cpu Here i am asking about how to clock my cpu to get maximum output from it. Any other cpu is compatible with that board?
