Q: how to tell the lenovo notebook's attery is dead or the computer is not charging the battery?
My battery of the labtop is only 4% for many days and there is no sign that the charging of the battery is going on ? Does my computer is NOT charging or my battery is dead ? How to do with it now ? I really wish it is a dead battery than to fix the computer. Right ?
A: Lenovo's have a battery meter built into their laptops. Look for a flashing yellow lightning bolt, if it is flashing, then your battery needs to be replaced. You can also open the battery gauge within Windows and it will tell you the status of your battery. My Lenovo battery information says it is designed for 74.88 Wh and has a full charge capacity of 75.34Wh. this means my battery is in good health, your more then likely needs replacing if it never charges, as it should charge when plugged into a power source.
Q: Between a Fujitsu and Lenovo notebook, which brand will/did you buy?
I have narrowed down my notebooks to Lenovo and Fujitsu. I don't like tablet PC. So I am comparing the X60 Lenovo to the Lifebook P7200 Fujitsu. It will be used mainly for learning/programming, will be carrying it most of the time, and I want to make sure it the notebook will last a long time. Which one is better? If you have compared and bought one yourself, why did you choose the brand you bought? Do you have any major/minor problems after the purchase?
A: LOVE Lenovo (used to be IBM, same design)
These laptops will outlast many others
Q: Why a cracking sound comming from inside of LENOVO Y410 NEW MODEL notebook?
I bought a Lenovo y410 notebook last month. After i used it for a week, i've noticed that a cracking sound like 'Phot' always come out when my notebook is awaked from sleep mode for about 25/30 minutes. The sound appears to come out from front left speaker side next to hard disk. I went down to local lenovo service center but they can't explain nor give me a valid reason. They said that the notebook is working properly and no error was found. If anyone is using the same model, lenovo Y410 , or have encountered like mine, please share me how you solve or troubleshoot it. Thanks.
A: Hi,
I've been working with computers for 25 years now and have never encountered something like this.
Do you have the right drivers for your soundcard installed? Does itneed updates? Or does your OS needs updates?
Good luck with it!

Q: How do I take a photo using the inbuilt webcam on a Lenovo Y410 notebook?
A: You should be using some program to switch on the cam you can utilize the same to take snaps, if you cannot find anything such you can also go to Control Panel -> Scanners & cameras -> USB Video Device
When you run the device you will see a small window with the button below as Take Picture, just click that when you are ready and move ahead with the instructions to save your photo to My Pictures.
Q: what should i choose: lenovo notebook or neo notebook?
my mom promised me to buy me a laptop or notebook this coming april. now i tried to canvas and i found two brands of notebooks which can be afforded by my budget. but i wanna know what should i choose, lenovo or neo. i wanna which is better in quality and which is more trusted... i need an expert advise not just opinions... thanks alot
A: I work in IT and we use Lenovo laptops. We have 75 of them in our company and not one has failed on me in 4 years.
Lenovo are a trusted brand and a lot of IT professionals use them because of their reliabity and all round good build quality.
A Lenovo would be fine for home use but they are more often than not targeted at the business community. Having said that there are plenty of models out there with Vista Home Premium on them.
Please don't buy a Neo. Google search both brands for reviews on the model you intend to buy for a balanced overview.

Q: How do I go about enabling the Integrated Web Camera on my Lenovo T61 Notebook? Thanks :D?
A: When mine doesn't work i usually just restart the computer. Otherwise, your pc may have came with an install disk for the cam. You also could go to control panel, hardware and sound, device manager, then look under your imaging devices and see if its there. If not click scanners and cameras under hardware and sound, then add your device and your pc should find your cam.

A: I use linux all the time, I ditched Windows completely over 2 years ago (no antivirus & no defrag). Although most distros are pretty good and ubuntu is very popular now, I would suggest for a newbie that OpenSuse is about the best for you to cut your teeth on:
http://en.opensuse.org/Welcome_to_openSUSE.org
You can download it from this site and there is a whole lot of info on installation & use, there are over 1800 free programmes with it and the addon CD will give you the closed source drivers and video codecs which aren't allowed to be shipped with opensuse, make sure you get these. I am not certain but I think it is possible to buy a Lenovo notebook with linux pre installed, may be worth a check.
If you've never used linux before for the most part it's easy, the GUI is quite similar to Windows and using the programmes is very similar for the most part. The file system & the way hardware is handled is different but once you get used to it it's far better than windows.
I wouldn't bother with Unix, Linux is based on Unix anyway and if you want to get into the command line or programming in any way, you'll be able to do that just as well with Linux.
Your internet connection can be a little tricky, if you are using an internal winmodem for dialup that can be difficult an external USRobotics modem will connect well. As for broadband, don't use a usb modem, connect through ethernet, something like a Lynksys broadband modem, I connect this through a router & it just works after setting up your connection.
I've used other distros but found opensuse to have the best configuration system of all of them and when I bought my laptop this year it had no trouble with any of the hardware at all.
From the sound of it you have another PC so you have the internet connection etc so I would say you have nothing to lose by installing completely on the new laptop, if you are on broadband & connect the 2 to a router you should have the internet connection to both also you'll have access to your files.
There is a live DVD version of opensuse, you can get it here:
http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-announce/2007-01/msg00004.html
the only problem with live CDs or DVDs is that they don't run as well as a clean install but will give you a good idea of what to expect.
Try this forum if you have any questions about opensuse:
http://www.suseforums.net/index.php?
or email me I'll be glad to help.
I think the more competition Microsoft gets, the better Microsoft will be and the better Linux will be so the end users will benefit.
Good luck and enjoy learning.

( Lenovo™ 3000 N100 Notebook Computer with Intel® Pentium® dual core processor T2060 )

Q: just got pre-installed N100 lenovo notebook (1GB RAM, 120 GB HD), DISK has no partition. how to make partition
problem- i ve just bought notebook having pre-installed vista business. hard disk is not partitioned (shows only C: drive). i want to partition hard disk (3 partitions of 40GB each) and install UBUNTU.
i tried Magic Partition, that didnt work.
qparted of UBUNTU doesnt work.
i have made a back of hard disk (1CD, 2 DVDs0).
can u suggest some software which can partition hard disk without damaging space taken by Vista. i dont want to have damage and get f***** by calling lenovo online
A: Heyz,
try Partition expert! The problem might not be with the software the problem might be with your way of partionning the hard disk!
The thing is hard disks are a real pain in the ass and having multiple os on 1 laptop is more then enough to cause permenant damage because of a misuse of a software..
