Q: Should I buy a Dell or HP Notebook computer?
I will be getting one very soon and need to start shopping right now. It is my first notebook computer (had desktops all my life) and I like Dell and HP, but which one? Can I have some suggestions? Also, if you have other brands that you feel are totally cool, feel free to add them to the poll.

A: Hp's are amazing. I currently have one and i am very happy with my decision. I too was in the same questioning boat as you are now. I had heard multiple responses for the Hp's and like i said that to me is the best. and they are affordable!!

A: had a look around for this there's an HP retailer in Cork, Soundstore whether it deals with adaptors don't know. Your best bet would be to use HP online store which is very good.

Q: I have a hp notebook computer and the hinge on only one side is starting to crack. How should it be fixed?
The computer is no more than about 2 years old and I am not really keen on the super glue and other ideas that I have seen out there on the internet.
A: I have a dell that has the same problem after trying all sorts of ideas that didnt help i finally priced out new hinges.
On a dell they only sell the hinges as part of the screen so was a little over 300. i figure for that i can almost get a new laptop and for 300 more i can get a dual core laptop. So i put a picture frame hinge on the back for now till i decide if i want a new one.
Q: How do i remove and clean or replace a hp laptop notebook computer, repair help?
do i open it, and take it out, or does the keyboard pop out somehow? i never opened a laptop, my h,g and backspace go out, and i get it going again by tapping on the side, or by pushing the keyboard to the right, just think it plug needs cleaned, or keyboard replaced? thanks

I'm going to get a new Hp Notebook from a program at my work but I'm wondering if it has WiFi. It doesn't tell me if it does nor does it tell me the model number. I'm glad to see it has wifi, I had a dream taking a notebook computer to the coffee shop instead of my little iPaq!

Q: Which notebook computer is better HP pavilion dv9060 or sony vaio ar250g?
What is the difference in speed processing for 1.66 ghz dual core versus 2.0 ghz dual core. Which hard disk drive speed is better, 4200 rpm or 5400 rpm? Which has better screen resolution for notebooks especially when watching dvd movies, 256mb or 128 mb? Which brand would you recommend for notebooks HP or sony? Based on experience, which notebook is more durable, hp or sony? I have also heard bad experiences with toshioba. The screen conks out in less than a year and when you hvae it checked the real defect is the motherboard. I have 2 acquaintances withe this sad experience. When they had it repaired they were given a run around by toshiba. I was planning to buy a toshiba but after this news I decide to choose between hp and sony.
A: The 1.66ghz processor even though it's duo core is a little slow compared to most notebooks out there. depending on what you are doing, you might not notice the difference too much..but the 2.0 is a much better processor. 5400 rpm is better, it reads quicker because it is turning at a higher rate. ..again, you probably wouldn't really notice the difference (unless your big into gaming). Me personally i like the HP's. haven't dealt much with the sony so i'm not sure but HP does make nice notebooks.
Q: How do I change out a hard drive on an HP Pavilion N5445 notebook computer?
Particularly.....there is software work to do and the actual hardware to install also. Will a new hard drive come with instruction? I am looking at a 60gig for $56. It has a 20gig in it now. I am buying 512mb ram for it now. How do I transfer the necessary software. I think it is all on the hard drive. I don't think this computer came with disks and such.
A: You will need 3 thing - desktop computer with access to inner parts, cable and software for copy/cloning.
1.Cable is 44 pin to 44 pin IDE if you HDD is IDE. Generaly speaking - you connect two of your 2.5 HDD, set up jumpers to master slave if necessary, and connect them to IDE slot of desktop computer.
Remove original IDE disk from laptop and boot from CD with copying/cloning software -- most famous is Norton Ghost. You can find ready ISO with software on net. There also exist free alternative of Norton.
2. SO you set up system and boot from cd - it must be able to start Ghost, find 2 disks and its your turn - you set up source 20gb and destination 60 gb. Ghost has also option to resize cloned partition - i.e. you copy 20 gb to 60 gb and it expanded it automatically to 60 gb
3. After cloning is complete you must be able to put new disk in laptop boot from it and run windows in safe mode for first time. This will ensure that windows will install drivers for new disk. Reboot again and voala :)

Q: CDs and DVDs will not play properly on my HP notebook computer. Can somebody please help?

I have recently purchased a HP G5000 notebook computer and after a couple of months have found that DVDs and CDs will no longer play properly. Whenever I try to play a CD or DVD, the playback is very glitchy and jerky. Even though, there are no scratches on the disc at all.
I am unsure as to whether or not it is a driver problem or a specific hardware problem.
Here are some of the specs of my laptop to help:
O/S - Windows Vista Home Premium SP1
RAM - 1GB
Processor - Intel Pentium Dual Core 1.86Ghz
DVD Drive - Optiarc AD-7530B ATA Device
Graphics Card - Mobile Intel 945 Express
Software that I've tried to play DVDs or CDs in - WMP 10, Realplayer, HP DVD play and iTunes.

A: This seem slike a fault rather than a set-up problem. The machine will still be under guarantee so you should be able to get a free fix for this. The documentation should give you the contact numbers.

A: S-vid is correct. Also mainly known as S-VIDEO cable. Plug it into the side of your laptop and change your TV to the input selection and make sure your graphics settings on your laptop are configured to display to both displays.

A: i dont know the age of the models, but i would say that the tx2000z is the best. it has the fastest processor. other then that they look like the options are pretty much the same. they will all be as fast as vista can be.
