Q: What is the difference between a Dell Vostro and a Dell XPS?
I know the difference. The vostro is the business computer and the XPS is the gaming computer. My question is, If i built both an XPS and a Vostro with the same equipment what would be the difference(other than casing and looks)? Would dell you different parts or anything like that? The vostro would be about $300 cheaper.

A: I have a Vostro 1500 w/ 2 Ghz C2D, 8400GS, 2GB RAM, 1280x800 screen. I love it except video card. Fine in Aero on Vista (vista runs nicely BTW), but noy\t too hot for games. If you game, get the 8600GT. BTW do not get the 1000, total crap.

A: All you need is a card that supports pixel shader 2.0. get one with 3.0 and 256mb ram on the gfx card Oh and you should get your ram up to 2gb or so.

I was planning on buying the dell vostro 400 desktop computer and i was wondering if its really only meant for buisness purposes. I am upgrading everything lik processor, hard drive, etc.

A: it can be whatever pc you want it to be.. usually when companies market a pc as a 'business pc', they will usually have less multi-media applications built in. thats about the only difference.. there might be more leasing options available with biz computers. Other than that in terms of hardware its pretty much the same!

Q: Do you need sound card to play logitech z2300 on Dell Vostro 1500 laptop?
I have a Dell vostro 1500 laptop. Is it ok to play my movies and music on my laptop on logitech z2300. Some body told me that it will harm my laptop. If yes then in what way? Please help.

A: If those speakers accept 3.5" stereo line signals (which they very likely do) then you can use them without any trouble.

I just bought a new desktop from Dell and I am trying to find the brand and model of the Motherboard they used. The specifications are: Dell Vostro 410 Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz PC2 6400 800MHz DDR2 memory Seagate 320Gib Hard drive Geforce 8800 GT This is the basic break down, but I have yet to know the exact details of the motherboard.

A: Download a program called Everest (Lavalys). It's out of date as I understand it, and doesn't link up to sites for drivers/info anymore, but it will still let you see all the relevant information you need :)

A: Hookup either a wired or wireless router. A wireless would be much easier to set up, just follow the steps on the accompanying CD. Be sure to set up a WPA password, WEP is to easily broken and not using encryption at all is just asking for someone to steal you bandwidth.

Q: Why Dell discontinue the production of Vostro 1400 laptops? I have one and it is work very good.?

The model is a Vostro 1500 but is is in the business section of their website. Will they let me purchase it for home use? Also, Windows Vista comes pre installed, do Dell UK ship the original Vista disc so I can re-install should the need arise? If not, how would I reinstall it?

A: They will sell to anyone or so I believe buisness or personal. No manufactures give original discs anymore just recovery discs which basically do the same thing but you don't get the original windows vista disc.

Well I am planning to buy a Dell Laptop ! But configuring the same configuration in Dell Inspiron, Vostro and Studio shows a lot of difference in the price ! So, what is the difference in the laptop if its a inspiron or a vostro or a XPS or a Studio ?

A: Hi, Ok, thats a good question. If the hardware configuration is same Inspiron and vostro are almost same but the exterior is different. Inspiron is designed for younger generation where as Vostro is for businesses. No difference in performance at all once we say configuration is same. Studio is better of both as it has the better screen (LCD display) in terms of screen resolution, rest has to be same as configuration is same. I hope it helps. A: Vostro 1510 has intel 965 chipset . Winxp doesnot supports this ,so SATA drive is not detected . Download NLITE from internet and create a modified winxp cd . Include the drivers (intel infutility) .

A: Dell did not drop their prices much after last Christmas, so I would say anytime now really. The Vostro is already very cut price.

Q: How to open a dell vostro 200?
I recently purchased a dell vostro 200 and I wanted to upgrade it. The only problem is I don't know how to open it. I tried to unscrew the side panels and pull them a out but they won't budge (both panels). I'm guessing the right panel is the one to take out since it has bigger screws to take out, but theres a spot where you can attach a lock thats blocking me from disassembling.
