Q: What drivers do I need for wireless connections for a Dell Inspiron Notebook 1150?
My computer crashed, and I have reloaded windows, and I do not have a wireless option. What drivers/utilities do I need to connect to a wireless signal?

A: I have the good fortune of working one on one with DELL TECHNICAL SUPPORT WiFi experts when I tried upgrading my built-in WiFI card to a superfast Intel ProSet Draft N 4965 AGN quality and own 3 DELL Notebook PCs (older Latitude D800, and 2 new ones: Inspiron E150/6400 and Latitude D620 that I have upgraded the hard drives and reinstalled Windows XP Pro on both. After reinstalling Windows XP and registering, I would first download all Windows updates via Cat5e cable bec so many and very time-consuming esp SP2. In fact the only way you will be able to download & install the correct Dell drivers is via Cat5e ethrnet cable that once you have installed Windowss and your Notebook PC is able to surf via Internet Explorer, you need to visit the Dell Technical Support and best way is to enter your Dell Service Tag as it will let you choose and select the correct drivers, then run and install and reboot, your WiFi card should automatically detect your WiFi router capability. Hope the Above Info Helps!

Q: Dell Laptop with a FAILED Hard Drive....If I replace the drive, will Windows contain generic drivers...?
Will the Windows installation contain sufficient drivers to keep my onboard hardware alive? Looks like I'm going to need to replace the HD, and I can't get into Windows, or a DOS prompt...Not too many options that I know of. Is there any way to boot in DOS, or copy drivers??? HELP! Dell Inspiron 1000 Notebook.

A: You should have Dell CDs to restore the necessary hardware configurations. If you don't have the CDs, you should be able to download what you need from the Dell support website. For XP: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/devices.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&SystemID=INS_CEL_1000&os=WW1&osl=EN For 2000: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/devices.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&SystemID=INS_CEL_1000&os=WNT5&osl=EN For 98: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/devices.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&SystemID=INS_CEL_1000&os=W98&osl=EN You will want to install the appropriate drivers and software as Windows on its own may not manage the hardware properly resulting in problems like shortened battery life.

Q: can i re-write and erase my windows os and format my dell notebook with linux using a flash drive?
I don't have an external cd driver at the moment and only a flash drive. Can I boot an os using the flash drive?

A: yes. easiest way is to use LiveCD technology. search google for "linux Live CD flash" and you will get listing of them. Live CD install can fit on small flash drive (200 meg or smaller, or bigger if you want) and when you start it with flash drive or burned Cd, it starts linux right then and there, turn off computer and remove flash drive and then you cn reboot into windows.

Q: I have a dell inspiron notebook how do i know if my video card is bad.?
I had to uninstall the nvida driver. That was the only way to get any video. The boot screen dell there are a bunch of lines up and down. The scroll function when online is super sluggish. I have tried to reinstall 4 times and every time i have the driver installed there is no video at all. I reinstalled windows too. The fans were really dirty and the laptop was running hot.

A: If it is new or under warranty...call Dell immediately. They will help you. I have had a good experience with this already. If not...with the lines going through the page...I would say you need a new video card. What program you are running would make a difference too. If you just got Vista...it's Vista...you'll need to contact dell (to see what to do) or microsoft (they may have updates/upgrades that would fix it) or the video card company (they may have recommendations). If it's any other program (ie Windows XP, it's your card and you would have to replace it. Find a local dealer or get one off ebay if the price is right. Don't go somewhere where they may overcharge. Make sure that what you get is compatible with your OS though.

A: You have to select exactly the native resolution of the monitor in your games. For example, if your monitor can support up to 1280x800 or 1440x900 or whatever, then your game itself must be set to that 1280x800 or 1440x900 resolution. Some games just don't support every resolution - then black areas WILL appear.
