Q: Whats the difference between HP Pavillion Notebook and Compaq Presario Notebook?
A: The price and the power. HP continue the presario line, as low end cheap notebookjs.
Pavillion are midle to high-end notebooks, that cost more.
Compaq PRESARIO START FROM 450$ while Pavillion start from 890$.
So depend on what you want then you can choose one or another.
If you want just a laptop to connect to the internet and do som document edited, then Presario is your call cause it's cheap.
If you weant to watch or edit video and photos and play some games then you need to get one of a pavillion series.

Q: How do I completely delete all files (including OS) on a preinstalled Compaq Presario notebook PC?
I don't like Vista, I want to clean install WindowsXp Sp2 on my brand new laptop but it shipped with Vista in it. CP model is C767TU.
A: Boot the xp cd follow the instructions. before installing new windows it will tell you Another OS is already installed on the System. They give you the option if you want to format the drive before installing. Do that and go ahead with Old xp :)

my notebook keyboard doesn't have a numlock key or the nbrs on the side. I guess that's the prob. I have windows XP.
A: what do you mean it dosen't work on your laptop?
it works on all computers, what type operating system are you using?
make sure numlock is on on the keypad.
hold down the alt key and press nbr3 and release both.
you can find all types of characters and symbols doing this using nbrs 1 thru 254. nbr 255 is a null.
at least this works on all microsoft opr sys.

I have a system failure and need to save my documents and cannot access it because of whatever is wrong. I have everything on that hardrive and I can only get to f10 and f8
A: turn the laptop over. remove the panel covering the hard drive. unhook the hard drive from the power and data cables. unscrew the hard drive from the mounts. reverse for install into other laptop.

A: ExpressCards are the new PCMCIA cards. If you used PCMCIA cards on your old laptop, you may need that functionality on your new laptop.
Most computer stores carry them for various purposes (wi-fi, gig-e, etc..) and they're used by cell companies for cell based internet access.

A: Just plug it in your USB port if your keyboard is USB keyboard or else keyboard jack will be found on your laptop connect your keyboard on to it..But I would suggest you to use a remote keyboard which doesn't have any cords.Just youhave connect a USB sensor to your laptop and you can use the remote keyboard.

A: i wouldnt worry if it says its rated up to 240v

A: Depends on what model Presario it is, an early model such as the 300 wouldn't be worth it, on a new one it could be a very good buy. Find out the model number and post it and I can give you a better answer.
Q: How do you use an external monitor on a compaq presario 1620 notebook?
I have a compaq presarion 1620 and I need to use it with an external monitor. I have windows 98 second edition on it. I have searched for the users manul and can't find it anywhere on the web. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the great replies. The problem I am having is that this is windows 98 (second edition) and there is no option under display for a second monitor.
A: plug the monitor in to the port, then right click your desktop and go to properties. then, go to settings, and enable a second monitor. And you're finished.

A: Hey I just bought mine from bestbuy on 9/9/07 and I am on it now. Yup, the exact same one your describing. I'm loving it. I got mine on sell from it's original price of $600 to $449 and with taxes and the recycle fee I only paid $491.99 so I saved about $108 dollars. For the price this is an amasing laptop! I take it to school and everything. Not to light or too heavy. battery life abou 3 1/2 hours. The screen is so clear. I got the 15.4 inch screen though. It has Vista Premium and it runs smoothly on the laptop too. What more could you want???
Also it's actually a Compaq/HP laptop since HP makes compaq now and they are very powerful computers with top quality materials used to make them. For the price you get a lot of bang out of it.
And DON'T buy from Circuit City. They tend to sell them way more then best buy, the exact same laptop. Wait till Sunday when best buy's sell starts and hurry and get to the store. I got one of the last. these things go FAST so don't wait. Trust me you will be very happy with the product. I'm very happy with the purchase. ^_^

Q: How do I get my Compaq Presario 700 Notebook to automatically shutoff when I shut it down?
I just had the hard drive replaced in my notebook and it used to automatically power itself down after I hit shut down, but now I have to wait for it to go to the "It is now safe to turn your computer off" page and then manually turn it off. Otherwise it will sit at that screen forever. PLEASE HELP!
