Q: Ordering a replacement battery for the Compaq Presario V6106AU Notebook in New Zealand?
I need to order a replacement battery for my laptop (Compaq Presario V6106AU), and I live in New Zealand. I can't seem to find anyway to order it to New Zealand directly off the HP Parts Store, and instead it says I have to order through one of their HP Authorised Resellers (the only ones in New Zealand being EMPR NZ Limited and Visparts - who's website is currently down at the moment). Has anyone else had to order replacement Compaq parts in New Zealand? If so, who did you order it through? (Please don't recommend websites such as Ebay and TradeMe, etc.)

A: Could always try, newegg or tigerdirect. Or you could go down to your local computer shop and see what they can do for you.

Hi I m Having a problem with my compaq v3228au notebook. When i start my notebook on battery backup the power led turns on and the dvd drive also spins but the notebook doesn't start. If i start it with AC power it gets started. And after starting my notebook throw AC power if i unplugged it , it runs fine on battery. My battery backup is still around 100 Mins. Can anyone help me in this??

A: sounds like theres not enough juice in the battery to get it "kick started" ... a new battery should help ... see if you can "Try before you buy" though to make sure

Q: compaq evo not charging battery?
Hey I left my notebook compaq evo N600c for 2 months at home while I went on vacation. When I came back it seems that the battery is dead and my notebook cant charge it, what is more, it wont charge other battery that am using for another same model notebook, and that dead battery is not going to charge when I put it in another compaq N600c, everything was working perfectly before, that battery used to hold a charge for about 2 hours! any ideas what is going on? thanks

A: It sounds like you have 2 bad batteries. Li-Ion batteries need to go through charge and discharge cycles. If you are going to leave them for a long period of time take them out of the laptop with a 25% charge in them this slow the decay inside that unit. But even under normal use you will only get 2-3 years most out of them before you need to replace them. So I think that they were just at the end of there useful life. Also if you leave your laptop plugged into the wall all of the time with the batteries installed you will ruin the life of them much faster than if you just take them out all together for long periods of use while plugged into the wall.

Q: Is this a good Compaq Notebook?
I'm thinking about buying this Compaq Presario C710TU Notebook, i'll mainly be using it for occasional video editing, chatting on msn and browsing the net... And is is compatible of running Windows Vista Home Premium? # PROCESSOR – Intel Celeron processor 530 1.73GHz # MEMORY - 512MB DDR2 (1 Dimm) # HARD DRIVE - 80GB 5400RPM # OPTICAL DRIVE - Super Multi 8X DVD±R⁄RW with Double Layer Support # COLOUR DISPLAY - 15.4" WXGA high-definition BrightView Widescreen Display # RESOLUTION - 1280 x 800 # VIDEO – Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 with up to 64MB shared with 256MB system memory # TV-OUT PORT – Yes # LAN - Integrated 10⁄100 LAN; 802.11b⁄g WLAN # MODEM - High speed 56K modem # SPEAKERS - Altec Lansing speakers, # USB PORT - 3 USB 2.0 # OS – Windows Vista Home Basic # WEIGHT - Approximately 2.99kg with 6-cell battery # WARRANTY – 1 year warranty # Price - $774 AUD

A: you'll need more hard drive space if you're going to do video editing (unless you have an external hard drive). I wouldn't really recommend an Intel Celeron either. And you might need a bit more memory for the editing. for browsing and chatting it'll be fine.
