I have recently been working on getting a used Compaq Armada 1571DM laptop into good wireless internet condition but the battery seems to be losing it's life span. I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I could find an affordable replacement for this brand and model.

I have recently aquired an older laptop without any of the original software. I would like to upgrade however I do not know if I need the original setup disk from Compaq.

Q: How To Remove Bios Protected Password On Compaq Armada 110?
HI I PURCHASED A COMPAQ ARMADA 110 ON EBAY AND IT CAMED WITH THE BIOS LOCKED. NOW I NEED A MASTER PASSWORD SO I CAN ACCESS THE BIOS. OTHERWISE LAPTOP IS USELESS CAN ANYONE HELP.
A: You can try unplugging the tower and removing the CMOS battery. This is a small battery on the motherboard. Put the CMOS battery back in, plug the tower in, and boot the machine. If this doesn't remove the password, you'll have to do a reset using the jumpers. Lookup the machine or the motherboard online for BIOS reset jumper settings

I have a 150mhz processor but want to modify it to have a faster processor and what is the fastest processor that is compatible.

A: Your lap-top is too old to have any hope of finding a compatible CPU to work with it.
I think your efforts should be directed toward replacing the lap-top as soon as you are able.
Q: How can i troubleshoot the compaq armada laptop if there is no power ?

laptop has no battery and direct to the charger. Laptop is an old model. It has a pentium II processor. The charger has a correct output.
A: From the little info you've provided, it sounds to me like the Power Supply has crapped out.
I believe you should take the laptop to a reliable shop and have it looked at.
Q: Is there something I am doing wrong with my Compaq Armada?
I have a Compaq Armada laptop. When I got it, it was saying there was no modem, so I went the cheap rout and bought an external modem that runs through the usb. I installed the disc and installed my dial up software, but when I tried to go online, it still said to install a modem...
Any help would be appreciated.
A: Okay there are some checking of items you can do. 1st, right click on MY COMPUTER and select PROPERTIES which will load the System Properties box. From here Click Hardware (tab) and click Device Manager. (Windows 9x users, click DEVICE MANAGER (tab)).
Look thru the list of devices and see if there are any modems installed. And if their is or is not an "!" or "X" over the modem. If there is a modem and there is not an "!" or "X" then the modem is installed properly and the problem is most likely the fualt of the ISP software. But before we can go pointing fingers, let's see if we can make our modem talk, shall we?
Go into your Control Panel and access your MODEMS, (If you are running XP or 2000, you can stay in the Device manager, just double click on the Modem name. NOT THE WORD "MODEMS" or if you are going the Control Panel Route, click on Diagnostics and then Queury the modem. If it returns back a lot of "AT" codes, then the problem is NOT your PC or your Modem, it is the ISP software.

Q: Why is my compaq armada m700 randomly shutting off?
My compaq armada m700 will randomly shut off, I am not sure whether it is overheating, but I want to know if anyone knows how to fix this or has had the same problem. When this happens, I have to plug it in to the charger to get it to turn on again
A: My guess is that your computer is set to go into a coma aka 'standby' mode. If you have windows, you click 'start', then click 'control panel'. Next, click on the "display" icon. Click the 'screen saver' tab at the top, then click "power". If the monitor settings say something like shutdown after 30 minutes, you should use the drop down arrow to change it to "never" I hope that solves the problem.

I mean, its from the late 90's, so it has a PII processor, 4gb hdd, 96mb of ram, and Windows 98SE. I just used the Auto-patcher to update it, but I want to see what you guys think on what I can do with it.

Q: What would a Compaq Armada laptop be worth if I did some upgrading to it?
It currently has Win 98SE and was going to put Win 2000 and up the ram to the max, which I think it can hold 512 meg.
Its in great shape and just curious if I did those upgrades to it, would that increse its value a lot of not that much.
Suggestions.
A: Probably wouldn't raise the value much, if at all. 512mb of ram is pretty much the minimum one would want to run XP with. Judging from the OS it has on it, Win98SE, I'm gonna take a guess that it only has a Pentium 2, maybe 3 or equivilant, and more than likely not capable of much more than that without changing the mainboard.
If I were you, I would probably just hang onto it, and used it just for word processing, story writing etc...

A: Hi, Well I wouldn't really know what price you would get because most people would buy something that is in good condition. Also they would like to know how long you have had it for because most people would like some warranty on it. Try selling it on ebay thats what I did with my 2nd gen ipod nano and I got $185 for it and the RRP was $220 and I had it for 7months
