Q: compaq notebook?
is compaq presario is good brand? coz i'm planning to get a laptop.

A: They have some GREAT online instant tech support on their site, that's for sure. If you DO buy one though, I'd suggest getting one with at least 1 GB of ram in it since Windows Vista would be the obvious OS that would come with your machine. Anything less than 1 GB, and you're new machine will be crawling. Good luck.

Q: how can i make my compaq notebook run faster?
I have a compaq presario notebook and it is really slow? How can i make it go faster? Should i just clean my whole harddrive and everything Please help I bought it in 2006

A: A high performing computer is a must these days. With internet connection going faster and new programs being developed, our computers may not be able to handle them all. That is why it is essential that we know how to make our PC perform faster. First off, doing these methods won't make your old computer faster than it ever was when you first bought it. The steps provided below will make your computer organized and run faster than it does now. People who are already knowledgeable about computers knows these simple, yet, effective steps already. Do a disk cleanup - Each time you use your computer, either running programs, opening files, browsing the internet, downloading various things, your computer saves a record. In time, all of these saved files and records will take up a lot of space in your hard disk, preventing your computer from finding the program you have commanded to open. Its like looking for a needle in a haystack, the more hay there is, the slower the computer can find the needle so to speak. When you do a disk cleanup, the computer would ask for your permission to delete some of these files which have been left unused for a period of time. To do a disk cleanup, click Start, then go to all programs, accessories, system tools then click on disk cleanup. A box will pop out asking you which drive to do a clean up on, in case you have several partitions or more than one hard drive). Click OK, then another box will pop out showing which files you can delete. Choose carefully and if you're not sure, don't erase the file. Defrag your PC - Defragmenting your computer means organizing and arranging your files to follow a certain order and maximize the space available. It's like putting order in a room. This way, the computer can easily find the files or programs that it needs to access, thus making your computer perform faster.

Q: Can install today's notebook hard drives in 9 year old Compaq Presario notebook?
I have an old Compaq Presario 1825 notebook. It originally came with a very small hard drive, less than 10 GB. Since then, I replaced the HD with a Hitachi 30 GB, and had no problems. Now, however, if I buy a new hard drive, maybe a Samsung 120 or 160 GB, will this old laptop recognize it, or will the new hard drive somehow exceed the old laptop's ability to recognize storage space and not function? I think the connectors are still the same, aren't they?

A: I suggest that you check first your laptop's manual and check the capacity limitation. I think a Pentium II computer cannot acknowledge a higher capacity harddisk. You may also check the website of the harddrive you intend to install and see how you can go around with it. They might have a utility program to do it.

Q: How do I connect my Nokia6230i with my Compaq notebook via bluetooth?
I follow the instructions and it does not work!

A: You may need a USB cable if you dont have one already.

Q: How to print screen on Compaq notebook in vista home prem?
I cannot get prt sc to work on my pc. In XP it's easy but in Vista home just nothing. I've tried so many combinations and nothing works i.e. pressing fn+prt sc and alt+prt sc and ctrl+prt sc. I tried pasting in notepad wordpad excel and word but nothing. help please

A: hiya, There is a work aroud. It should also work with most versions of windows. Do the Print Screen command sequence (ie Func/FN+Print Screen/PrtScrn - This will save an image of the screen within Cache memory/Ram). Once this is done, simply open your favourite paint programme, and open a new image screen. In a blank area of the main painting screen, simply press RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON to bring up a pop menu, select Paste from here by pressing the Left Mouse Button, this should deposit the image of the screen you grabbed. Edit screen as you see fit or as desirable. Save out the image in the format that is appropriate for your intended use. Remembering that Copyright laws still apply to all images that you grab and use for commercial purposes, or written content. In "Word" you can simply paste the image within a document from the edit menu, and select Paste (even within vista this should indeed be possible). You could do the above procedure and paste the image file from the insert picture file menu item as well. If this fails check your Help files for more information on probable solutions to pasting in a grabbed image into your current work - This should solve all the problems as listed here. Hope this helps, Alex

Q: Where is a good place to sell my Compaq notebook besides Ebay?
?

A: You could look into selling on Yahoo shopping, or on Amazon.com. I do not know what the requirements are for either site, as I would always recommend ebay, for no other reason than the number of buyers available and the low cost.

Q: My girlfriend bought a compaq notebook from best buy with windows vista premium. The laptop's c drive is?
80 gig and I've noticed that out of the box there is only 73% left on the harddrive and for some reason the hard drive seems to be getting filled for no reason, also the d drive says that there is only 8% left. Just wondering if this is normal, what is taking up so much space?

A: the operating system, the preinstalled software (word, probably a free trial of norton, etc.), anything she transferred on to the new computer from her old one (music and pictures take a LOT of space...) all new computers already have a chunk being used straight out of the box. the computer is 80 gig, which means all the stuff that is already ready to go must be stored on those 80 gig! but don't worry, 80 gig is really HUGE for a casual computer user who mostly does a bit of music, pictures, and occassionally installs a new program. most casual computer users can't even touch 40 gigs in a 3-4 year use of a computer. most likely because hte computer is new and she is intalling new programs and saving her old files onto this new computer, the rate of increase of what is stored is waaay faster right now than it will be once she has it all set up to her preferences. just remind her not to install any unnecessary programs.

Q: How do I reboot/restart/restore a Compaq Armada 110 Notebook?
I have a Compaq Armada 110 Notebook that i just discovered I had. I do not remember the password and I want to get it. I thought of the possibly of restarting or rebooting the entire PC because there is nothing there I want. How do I do this?

A: I personally think that is impossible to "just discover" that you had this notebook computer. Especially, since you "don't" remember the password and "know" that there is nothing in there that you want. I think that perhaps this may have "fallen off a truck" somewhere and you are just trying to access it for your own use.

Q: I have a dell desk top windows xp and a compaq notebook vista How do i use the same printer for both?

A: Network your printer in a network hub and share it for both.
